Name: Deathstalker

Forging: Deathstalker’s forging date is not known. The weapon appears to be fairly new. The enchantments on the weapon can be dated to late 1998.

Blade: Deathstalker is a flamberge, consisting of a wavy, kris-style blade. The blade was originally of high quality steel, but has since been transformed into pure titanium, a metal that possesses twice the tensile strength of steel (8.0 to 4.0 on the hardness scale, 10.0 being a diamond, the hardest substance known to man), but has only half the weight. The overall length of the weapon appears to be approximately 43".

Crossguards: The crossguard of Deathstalker is made of steel, and is in a semi-circle fashion, with the outside edges facing towards the hilt.

Hilt: Unknown metal, wrapped in leather of an artificial manufacture.

Bonus: Deathstalker does not have magical bonuses in the traditional D&D sense, but with the combination of the speed enchantment and the strength and sharpness of the titanium blade, Deathstalker could be considered to be a +2 weapon for to-hit and damage purposes.

Powers:

  1. Blessings: Deathstalker has three religious blessings upon it. The first two are from the Mielikkian faith, one magical and one mundane. The third is from a Catholic priest. This has the effect of making it nearly unbearable for vampires to touch with their bare skin. It also helps to make the blade more deadly against the undead.
  2. Fire Resistance: Protects wielder from light to moderate fire and heat based attacks, but not including explosions, concussive force, or smoke inhalation.
  3. Cold Resistance: Protects wielder from light to moderate cold based attacks, including exposure.
  4. Speed Enchantment: Increases the speed of the weapon, giving the wielder added striking speed and recovery time.
In D&D terms, Deathstalker strikes first in any round, except against weapons such as a scimitar of speed or a short sword of quickness.
  5. Everbright: Deathstalker is constantly under the effects of an everbright spell. This prevents the blade from rusting or becoming dull, and makes the blade easier to clean.
  6. Faerie Fire: Deathstalker has a faerie fire spell cast upon it. Unlike Soulreaver, which has a permanent effect, Deathstalker’s faerie fire is cast so that the wielder can mentally call the spell, to turn the effect on or off at will. The color of the faerie fire is reddish-orange (the color of true fire), making people unable to tell the difference from a distance. Up close, people might notice the lack of heat, which gives away the flames’ illusory nature.
