Title: Nudging Things Along
Author: Michael Weyer
This takes place in the Wishverse. X-Files differences......
1. Mulder, Scully and Melissa Scully were killed by Alex Krychek in 1995 (the X-Files second season finale).
2. The trio are unaware as to the identity of their Watcher.
3. Mulder and Scully are still partners, no relationship (at least, not yet <G>)
4. Melissa Scully is still straight.
This chapter is rated NC-17 for sexual content as I finally do something that's long overdue for the Wanderverse: A
Mulder/Scully love scene. Immense thanks to Jack Canyon for aid in editing and a little tweaking of the love scene, not
quite as much this time around (guess I have more smut in me than I thought <G>)
Apartment of Dana Scully
Washington D.C.
September 17, 1995 - 2011 Hours EST
"Thanks for coming, Missy," Dana Scully sighed, running a hand through her short red hair. "I needed to be with someone tonight."
"No problem," Melissa Scully smiled at her younger sister. While Dana was still in her business suit, Melissa dressed a bit more casual, only a simple dark blouse and skirt. There was a family resemblance, even with Dana's short red hair and Melissa's darker tresses. Surprisingly, the siblings had been apart for quite a while, Dana's scientific training going against Melissa's more New Age-sensibilities. But since the death of their mother a few months ago, the two sisters had patched up their differences. In the end, family was more important than any difference in beliefs.
"So, where’s Fox?" Melissa asked. Scully had to chuckle a bit at how her sister was pretty much the only person who called Mulder by his first name. And how she was the only one Mulder let get away with it. Dana wasn’t surprised by it, though. Mulder and Melissa got along well, given how they were both a bit-----eccentric in their thinking. *Who knows?* Dana thought. *They may hit it off and Mulder might end up as my brother-in-law.* She squirmed a bit, uncomfortable with that notion but unsure exactly why it made her so.
"Dana?"
With a start, the agent realized she'd been distracted by her thoughts. "Sorry," Dana said. "Last I saw, he was going to his place. It's too bad that New Mexico thing didn't pan out the way he'd hoped."
"How's he doing?" Melissa frowned. "With his dad...dying?"
Dana sighed. "You can say murdered, Melissa. It's what happened to him." Dana shook her head. "It's hard on him, I know. Despite the fact that he and his dad hadn't exactly been on good terms the last few years, seeing him killed by that bastard Krycek was still horrible."
"Yeah, I know the feeling," Melissa said, closing her eyes and wincing at the memory of the photos she'd seen of the car wreck that had taken their mother's life. "Are you helping him? Deal with it, I mean?"
"Yeah," Dana nodded. "I know what it's like to lose a parent so suddenly. Mulder's tough, he'll pull through it."
"Maybe sooner than you think," Melissa smiled. She nodded forward and Dana turned her head. She saw Fox Mulder coming down the other side of the hallway, slowing his walk as he approached the two sisters. "Ladies," he said, managing a slight smile although Dana could see a twinge of pain there.
"Mulder, what are you doing here?" Dana sighed.
"And where'd you come from?" Melissa frowned, looking past him.
"Fire escape," Mulder shrugged. "I managed to find an open and empty apartment with a window cracked open just enough to let me inside. I decided to take the back entrance just in case someone was watching the front."
Dana rolled her eyes. "Mulder, you have to stop being so paranoid of everything."
"Who told you to say that?"
Melissa giggled at the exasperated look on Dana's face. "Seriously," Mulder added. "I just felt like checking up on you two. Call me crazy------"
"You don't want to hand me an easy line like that, Mulder."
"But I just felt like something was...well, wrong. An instinct, maybe, that something dangerous was going to happen."
Dana rolled her eyes. "Mulder, if you claim to be getting psychic flashes, I am putting in for a transfer tomorrow." She brushed past him, slid her key into the door, and tried to unlock it.
"Don't knock it, Dana," Melissa said as she came up behind her sister. "Fox may be right. There are several documented cases of people who had definite feelings, even full-scale visions, of danger right before disasters or accidents--------"
"Please, don't start," Dana moaned as she opened up the door and entered the room, her sister and partner behind her. "I just don't want to spend the night talking about---------"
The rest of her reply was lost in a sudden gasp as a bullet tore into her abdomen and another into her left breast. She fell back onto Mulder, who was stunned to see his partner had been shot, barely registering the dark-clothed trio who were holding silenced revolvers on them. Seeing them ready to fire again, Mulder instinctively spun around, to shield the wounded Scully. He took two bullets in his back, one right in the spine, that knocked him down, leaving the two agents sprawled on the floor in a growing pool of blood. Melissa stood there, frozen in shock over what she had just seen and therefore a sitting duck for the quartet of bullets that knocked her onto her back, her breath coming out in hard gasps.
Mulder lay on top of Dana, looking down at his partner, a trickle of blood near her mouth. She had the same stunned expression of pain that he had, a sight torn away from him when he felt his body kicked off her. He looked up at the leader of the gunmen and muttered, "Krycek..."
"Hello, Mulder," the renegade agent said with a smile as he raised his pistol and aimed it right at Mulder's chest. "I'm not heartless. I'll make sure there's enough of your face left to make you presentable at your funeral. Give my regards to your old man."
With every ounce of strength he had left, Mulder spat a glob of bloody mucous right in Krycek’s face. The ugly look Krycek flashed at him was the last sight Mulder had before the gun fired once more.
Then he saw nothing else.

Washington D.C.
January 10, 1999 - 1907 Hours EST
The restaurant was a quiet one, not too lavish but a step above a simple sports bar and grill. It was off the beaten path a bit, not the type of place one would expect for a first date between co-workers. Which was exactly why Fox Mulder and Dana Scully had picked it.
The two agents had dressed casually, Mulder in slacks and a wrinkled Polo shirt, Scully in a rather nice pair of dark jeans and blouse with wool jacket, still managing to look great through it all. She sipped her drink and looked over at her partner. "Not exactly the first class treatment I've had on past dates, Mulder."
"We do earn government pay," Mulder pointed out. "We sort of needed an affordable spot. Plus, it's out of the way, which is good, since socializing after hours is quite frowned upon by the bigwigs at the Bureau."
"True," Scully said with a nod, chewing at her food. A silence fell upon them, the sort of silence that had descended upon the two over the last several weeks, ever since they had met their doubles from another reality. Doubles who were also Immortal but that was about all they had had in common. For one thing, in that reality, their counterparts were married, a twist that this world's Mulder and Scully were having a somewhat difficult time handling.
It had been difficult trying to ignore the confusion raised by that meeting, having seen their counterparts. And it had been harder maintaining the professional status quo between them, having seen how loving their doppelgangers were with each other. And the hardest part of all was dealing with the envy they had of the relationship shared by their counterparts.
"Envy…?" Mulder asked. Too late, Scully realized she had said her last errant thought out loud. She flushed a bit as she looked up at Mulder. "About what, Scully?"
Scully sighed and raked her fingers through her hair. "Our doubles."
"Ah," Mulder said in understanding. "What about them?"
Glancing away quickly, Scully easily answered. "Oh, the empowerment thing, really. I have to tell you, Mulder, seeing that version of me do a backflip up a wall was really weird, even for us."
"Tell me about it," Mulder sniffed. "You should have seen some of the moves my double used on those vamps. I had to make sure he wasn't hooked up to wires or something." He looked up at his partner. "Don't suppose you want that for yourself, huh?"
Scully shook her head, unknowingly reaching for the cross around her neck. "I don't think so," she said softly. "From what I gathered, that version of me was something of a lapsed Catholic, not as committed to the Church as I am. I know, I know, she's not committing blasphemy for being an Amazon but...well..."
"You'd rather be praying in church then to a statue on an altar," Mulder stated.
"Exactly," Scully nodded. "I don't know, maybe I'd consider it, but for now, I'm happy the way I am. You?"
Mulder snorted. "Unless extreme circumstances called for it, there is no way I'm letting that lunatic Genie use magic on me. He makes me look downright sane."
"Now, that's a frightening thought," Scully smiled. "I guess those skills must come in handy if they get into a duel."
"True," Mulder nodded. "Too bad we didn't have them when we came back the first time."
Scully shook her head. "I would have much preferred an explanation the first time we came back."
Mulder raised an eyebrow and smiled. "You didn't like the one we were given?"
Scully rolled her eyes at the unwanted remembrance...

TravesCo International building
Washington D.C.
October 2, 1995 - 0132 Hours EST
Scully shifted in her seat and her back cracked. It was a testament to how long she'd been stuck in the same position in the passenger seat of the small car. She straightened her hair with her fingers and wished she'd worn some warmer pants than her business suit. She tapped on the window impatiently, wishing for the thousandth time in the last hour that something would happen.
At that moment, Scully straightened up when a sudden sensation traveled up and down her spine and a buzz filled her head. She glanced to the door, knowing
even before she saw anything that it was Mulder. Her partner opened the door and entered, dressed in his usual business attire and long coat. He held a pair of steaming cups and handed one to her. "Here you go." Scully eagerly took it and drank the warm liquid within. Mulder watched her for a moment before speaking. "You felt it again, didn't you?"
Scully stopped drinking and looked at her partner. "Mulder-----" she began but was cut off.
"You felt it again, didn't you, Scully?" Mulder pressed on. "The same feeling we both get if we get within twenty feet of each other. The same one we get with Melissa and the same feeling she gets with us."
"Yes, Mulder, I felt it again," Scully snapped. "I don't know why that's so damn important to you--"
"You don't know why?" Mulder raised his both eyebrows. "Scully, let me go over this again." Ignoring her groan, he began to tick off his fingers. "A few weeks ago, we're shot down by Krycek and two other guys yet wake up a half-hour later with no sign of any wounds, despite the dried blood and bullet holes in our clothing."
"He was playing with us, Mulder. He must have used some sort of tranquilizers or something. He wanted to let us know how vulnerable we are, you know he gets off on those games."
Mulder went on. "That doesn't explain the blood. Besides, he talked like he thought he was killing us for good. So, we come back fully healed, no signs of any injury. Soon after, we discover that if any of us get near the other two, we feel some sort of strange buzzing in our heads and a chill along our spines. Also, I've been feeling a lot more energetic lately, strong, like I can take on the world. How about you?"
He saw his partner stare into her coffee and knew he had hit on something. "Scully? What is it?"
Scully licked her lips and looked at him. "Melissa came to see me this afternoon," she stated. "She wanted to talk to me about something important and seemed incredibly chipper, even for her." Scully drew a deep breath and continued. "About a month ago, she'd gone in for her regular checkup and the x-rays showed...something...in her head. A...cloud." Mulder's eyes opened wide as Scully said, "She didn't want to tell me anything until she knew for sure, didn't want me to worry. She went back for more tests and it seemed conclusive. They found a tumor, located in her frontal lobe. It’s inoperable."
"Oh my God, Dana," Mulder said with sympathy. "How long?"
"That's just it, Mulder," Scully said, turning to him. "Melissa went in for another exam yesterday, a follow-up. And it was gone."
Mulder stared, not understanding what he'd just heard. "Gone? Wait...you mean the tumor? It was just--"
Scully threw up both hands. "I don't understand it either and Melissa was in shock. We double-checked the x-rays, records and everything but there's no mistake. Somehow, someway, an inoperable, life-threatening brain tumor vanished in only weeks."
"My God," Mulder said softly. "This is connected to what happened to us, it has to be. I'm sure of it, Scully, and I think you are too."
Scully was sure of it, but she didn't want to have this conversation right now. "Mulder, we investigate X-Files, we don't become them. Can we just focus on the here and now, please?" She looked out from their spot in the parking lot at the building before them. "What are we doing here at this hour, Mulder?"
"Hoping to catch our burglar in action," Mulder answered.
"I still can't believe you're being so…mundane about this, Mulder," Scully smiled. "A series of raids on corporate headquarters connected to a government project, files missing from supposedly secure and guarded installations and you actually believe it's a live human burglar instead of a ghost or phantom."
"Of course it's alive, Scully," Mulder said lightly. "What would a ghost want with a bunch of files or papers? However--"
"I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up."
"I do believe that our thief must possess some special abilities in order to access these files," Mulder replied. "It's one thing to circumvent alarms but the sheer skill he or she uses indicates that either they know how to be invisible to sensors and cameras or they've got a wealth of experience to draw up--"
He cut himself off when he and Scully saw something on the side of the building. It was a figure of some sort, climbing up toward the roof, doing very well scaling the wall. It was briefly outlined against the moon, a lithe and dark figure that scampered along the roof.
Scully got out of the car along with Mulder. She and her partner drew their guns and carefully crept toward the side of the building.
*****
*Amazing* Amanda thought as she slipped out of the office. *You'd think a government office would give me a slightly bigger challenge these days.*
For most thieves, trying to crack a major government-connected office building would have been too much of a risk. For the thousand-year old thief, it was far, far too easy. She really didn't know why she'd taken this contract, she didn't like going for multiple targets so close to one another. But, she'd been a bit bored, the pay was good and she figured she needed to get back in the game after that stint with the circus. Besides, D.C. was a nice town, just full of fun. She figured it'd be a nice place to stay for a while before the traveling bug bit her again.
She stepped out and onto the fire escape, the files she'd wanted safe in her pouch. She walked toward the roof, her lithe and shapely body clad in tight black lycra clothing, gloves and boots, a dark cap over her raven-black hair. She made sure her gloves were still holding the special adhesive attachments that had cost a small fortune but were worth their weight in gold. *Motion and pressure sensors on the floor are all well and good, boys, but maybe the walls would be good too.*
She reviewed her actions to make certain nothing was left behind. The adhesive left no marks on the walls, the special jammer she had set up to ensure all the cameras caught of her would be a tiny blur that could easily be explained as a shadow was back in her pocket, and she'd tripped no lasers or alarms. She figured that was it.
She threw a leg over the edge of the roof and headed down, the attachments in her gloves easily finding handholds that lowered her to the ground. She resisted the urge to whistle a tune, keeping her mind purely on the job until she reached the bottom. Her feet hit the ground and she turned, smiling as she headed toward the small group of trees nearby and her motorcycle hidden nearby.
She stopped as the Buzz struck her, her eyes darting around to pinpoint it, hand reaching behind her back. She stared as two people came forward: A handsome man and a shorter but attractive redhead, each dressed in a professional suit, each pointing a gun at her. Amanda froze, taking both in, trying to keep calm. "Well," she finally announced. "You realize this is cheating, right? Two on one?"
"Keep your hands where we can see them," the man stated.
"I'm Amanda," she introduced herself. "And you?"
The two exchanged a look, as if surprised she would identify herself like that. "Mulder and Scully, FBI," the man announced. "Put your hands up."
Amanda sniffed and looked at the two. "Let me guess," she said sourly. "Shoot me down, then finish the job?" She shook her head. "I hate the young ones. Not good enough to hack a duel so they just take shortcuts. You know, it's because of the likes of you we have rules."
"Only rules we know are the ones you're breaking," Scully said, her gun steady on Amanda. "Hands on your head, now!"
"I don't think so," Amanda said darkly. Her hand came from behind her back, a long sword in it. The two agents were thrown, wondering just where the hell she had pulled the thing from and why she was carrying it in the first place. "You want me, come and get me," Amanda said, moving into a fighting position.
"Miss, drop your weapon," Mulder stated, his gun pointed right at her heart. "Now!"
"Drop yours and fight like a man," Amanda shot back. "If you know how. By the by, are you going to split my Quickening or did you flip a coin beforehand?"
"This is your last chance," Scully stated darkly, her gun steady as well. "Drop the sword and put your hands on your head."
Amanda looked at them both and slowly shook her head. "Sorry. You want me, you're going to have to fight a bit for me." With that, she lunged forward, sword down, the point of the blade aimed at Mulder. Without hesitation, Mulder and Scully fired, two times each, the bullets slamming into Amanda's chest and knocking her back. She collapsed on her back, the sword falling from her limp hand. She uttered a choked gurgle before her eyes stared into forever and she died.
The agents stood frozen, staring at the woman they had just killed, guns still held up and ready as they came approached her still body. Scully knelt, placed two fingers on Amanda's throat and searched for a pulse. She looked up at Mulder, shaking her head as she rose. "She’s dead, Mulder."
"Why, Scully?" Mulder muttered. "Why did she make us shoot her? A burglary rap isn’t worth dying for." He sighed and raked a hand through his damp hair. "There goes our chance to figure out who hired her to steal those files."
Scully shook her head as she holstered her gun. "I don't get it. Why in the world would she just charge us like that? And with a sword too…I really don't get that part at all."
"I don't know," Mulder said, shrugging. "Maybe she's part of some cult or it's a religious fanatic thing of some sort or--"
With a gasp, Amanda came back to life. She opened her eyes and tried to get her bearings. She sat up with a groan and rubbed her chest as the two agents just stared in shock at her. "Or, she could know Lazarus," Mulder said dryly.
Amanda got back to her feet, her sword back in her hand and stared at the two stunned agents. "So..." she said and swallowed. "You want to fight for my head after all?"
"Your head?" Scully asked, utterly thrown by all of this. "What--How--How is it that you’re alive?!"
Amanda looked at her, then at Mulder, seeing him just as stunned. She closed her eyes and groaned again, this time from a different sort of pain. Looking back up, she took a deep breath. "When you two came close to me, did either of you feel a nasty headache and drop in your stomach? Sort of a...Buzz?"
"How did you--" Scully started.
"The feeling we have whenever we get close to each other," Mulder stated. "Or Melissa."
"Melissa?" Amanda said with a frown.
"My sister," Scully said in a dull tone. "The three of us were--"
"Hurt really, really bad, like close to death?"
"Well…yes," Scully offered.
Amanda groaned yet again. "Oh boy. We need to talk."

Melissa Scully's Apartment
Georgetown, VA
0247 Hours EST
The knocking roused Melissa Scully from her slumber. She swung out of bed and staggered a bit as she made her way to the front door of her apartment. She wore only a simple pair of pajamas and a slightly goofy smile on her face. She barely registered the strange buzz in her head that was lost amidst a much larger buzz. She opened the door and broke into a wide smile as she saw her sister, Mulder and a dark-garbed, dark-haired beauty looking at her. "Hey, sis, what's up!" Melissa asked brightly.
Dana entered carefully and looked at her sister closely. "Are you drunk?"
"No, no, Hell no," Melissa answered, shaking her head. "No. I just had a drink to celebrate my recovery, then another drink to celebrate sticking with you, then a drink for each of you guys, then another drink to finish it off. I'm fine!"
"Oh, great," Mulder muttered. "Hearing this sober was bad enough. She's going to have to go through it twice more with--"
Brushing aside him, Amanda pulled her sword out and, without a word, plunged it into the front of Melissa's shirt. The woman gasped, pain ripping through her alcohol-induced haze as she gurgled out a stream of blood from her mouth and fell backward onto the floor. Amanda pulled the sword out of the corpse as Mulder and Scully both regarded her with horrified looks on their faces.
"You bitch!" Dana shrieked. "What the hell is the matter with you?!" She shoved Amanda aside and sprang down to her sister's body. "I mean--Jesus, are you crazy?!"
"No," Amanda flatly stated. "Cutting to the chase so I can convince all three of you at once about this. Trust me, coming back from the dead is a great way to sober up fast. Believe me, I know."
"Lady, you have some serious control issues," Mulder snapped. "Hasn’t anyone tried to rein you in?"
"Only one Scotsman comes to mind," Amanda answered with a smile as she pulled out a small towel and wiped off the bloody blade. "Came close, closer than anyone else has. Too bad he’s taken now."
There was a gasping sound as Melissa's body shook and she returned to life. She looked up at the trio standing over her. "Dana--" She got out, sounding far more alert than she had been a few minutes before. "What is--"
"Sis," Dana sighed, helping her up. "We've got a lot to talk about."
"Yeah," Amanda stated. "And the 'sis' thing is just one of them."
*****
It was quiet in the kitchen as Melissa sat at the table, sipping the cup of coffee from the mug she held. She stared into space, ignoring the bloodstains on her shirt. She heard a noise behind her and knew who it was. "I'm okay, Dana," she said softly.
"You sure?" Dana said, sitting on the table, her long coat gone. She reached for Melissa's hand and held it. "I know it's rough, Mulder and I have already been there. I know it's hard to believe."
"No, no, I believe it," Melissa said, shaking her head. "I mean, what happened to us, plus my tumor vanishing, there had to be an explanation for that. Plus, I've always been a little more open to the fantastic than you, so the idea of people who can live forever isn't that big of a deal." She paused and looked at her sister. "Where's Fox?"
"In the other room," Dana said with a slight smile. "You can imagine how he must feel about interrogating a woman who's a thousand years old."
"Yeah, I can imagine," Melissa said with a slight smile.
Dana looked at her closely and sighed. "So...what's bothering you, Missy? Come on, we're sisters--"
"That's just it, Dana," Melissa said softly. "We're not." Dana was thrown as Melissa set the mug down and looked at her. "You heard what Amanda said, Dana. Immortals are foundlings; we don't have parents. So, Mom wasn't our mother and you and I aren’t sisters. And that's the part that hurts the most, Dana…it really does."
Dana was silent for a long moment as Melissa sipped at her coffee. She then leaned forward, took Melissa's hand in hers and squeezed it, causing Melissa to look at her. "Mom was our mother, Missy," Dana said in a strong, clear voice. "She was. She raised us and she loved us and in every way possible, was our mother in everything but birth. I love her and I love you, Missy. We grew up together, watched out for each other and yeah, we grew apart a bit, but we've gotten closer in the last few months. I was torn in half when I heard about the tumor and I felt like celebrating too when I heard it was gone and I wasn't going to lose you. I love you, Missy, like only a sister can. It doesn’t matter whether or not we had been adopted; what matters is, you are and always shall be my sister, Missy. Can you look at it the same way as I do?"
Melissa looked at her with tears in her eyes. "Yeah," she said softly. "Yeah, I can. Sis." They hugged, both feeling a rush of happiness at the realization they were going to be a family for a long, long time to come.

"Well, I have to say, I think that went well," Mulder said as the two agents left the restaurant.
"Well, no murder, mutants, or theories about why the steak was overdone, so I'll go out on a limb and say it wasn't bad," Scully joked as strolled through the parking lot.
Mulder peered intently at his partner; he licked his lips and tried to find the courage to say what was in his heart. "I'd like...do it again, whenever you’re free."
Scully shot an askew glance his way, before she nodded slowly. "Okay," she said with a smile. "I'd like that too. As soon as we get a free weekend back in town."
"Cool," Mulder nodded. "You'll be okay getting home?"
"No problem," Scully answered, walking over to her car. Mulder nodded and turned away but spun around when Scully cursed. "What is it?" he asked as he came up behind her.
With a grunt, Scully kicked at the tire of her car. The two rear lower tires were both flat, an open cut on each of them. "Dammit, you'd think kids would have grown tired of doing this kind of thing!"
"You have a spare?" Mulder asked.
"No." Scully sighed. "Well, so much for the perfect night!"
At that moment a loud rumble of thunder sounded, and drops of rain began to fall. Scully looked darkly at Mulder, who just held up his hands. "Hey, I wasn’t the one that tempted fate!"

Apartment of Dana Scully
Georgetown, VA - 2115 Hours EST
Scully brushed her hair with her hands, causing water droplets to pelt the carpet. Then she removed her coat and brushed the moisture off the garment. "Thanks for the ride, Mulder," she said and sighed as she reached for her door.
"My pleasure." He smiled and held his wet coat in his hands as he watched Scully open her apartment. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Scully rolled her eyes. "Mulder, it's just a rainstorm, a normal rainstorm. It's nothing to worry about. I don't think--"
There was a thunderous boom and a flash of lightning and within seconds, the lights in the hallway faded, as did the ones in Scully's apartment. Mulder looked at her with a wan smile. "Two for two, Scully."
"Shut up, Mulder," Scully growled as she entered her apartment. She opened a drawer in the kitchen and found some candles. She pulled them out and glanced over her shoulder at Mulder. With a sigh, she signaled for him to enter her apartment. "Come on, Mulder. You might as well hang around for a while until the worse of it goes away."
"Thanks," Mulder said as he came inside. He took a candle from her, then she lit it. "Guess it'll take a while for the tow truck to retrieve your car."
"Wonderful," Scully muttered. "I'll need to go over there tomorrow to pick it up before work."
"I'll give you a ride."
"You've done more than enough, Mulder. But...thanks anyway." Scully flashed him a little smile, then sighed as she walked further into her apartment. A moment later, Mulder joined her. They lit a few more candles around the apartment and soon, a soft illumination filled the apartment, accented every now and then by flashes of lightning from outside.
Scully sat on the couch and stared at the flashing lighting. "What is it?" Mulder asked.
"Just thinking," she said softly. She turned toward Mulder. "Do you remember it at night? Your first Quickening?"
"Oh, yeah," Mulder nodded. "Every night, right before I drift off, I still feel it. Even three kills later, I feel it."
"Same here." Scully sighed. "Melissa's only had the one so it may be harder for her."
"I guess," Mulder nodded. "I never got to ask, how'd she take the whole alternate reality trip?"
Scully rolled her eyes. "After teasing me for an hour after hearing how we're married there, I wish I'd never brought it up." She broke into a smile. "But telling her how in that reality, she's a lesbian sleeping with a Spanish Immortal who was once a female Zorro definitely rocked her world."
"I’ll bet." Mulder said with a smirk. Another silence fell over them as he looked at his partner. "She say anything else? About...you know...us? The other us's?"
Scully frowned. "How so?"
"Well, about how they were...together." Scully fiddled her fingers a bit and Mulder knew he was onto something. "Scully.......What did she say?"
"It wasn't what she said," Scully said softly. "It's what she didn't. I know my sister, Mulder, I know what she's thinking. When I talked about how lovey-dovey our doubles were, I could see in her eyes that all she was thinking of was why...Why we..."
"Why we weren't like that," Mulder answered for her.
"Crazy, huh?" Scully said lightly.
"Not really," Mulder replied. She looked at him in surprise as he swallowed and went on. "I wonder the same thing every day."
Scully stared at him in dull amazement as Mulder moved a little closer. "I never told you this before. I never got a chance to, you came to life before I did. But when I saw you shot, when I saw you go down that first time...it tore me apart, Dana. In that moment, I really felt it didn't matter if I lived or not. Without you, life wouldn't be the same. You're a part of me, Dana.
You're more than my conscience and reason, more than my partner. You're my other half. You're the one I love."
There was silence, the dim lighting making it hard for Mulder to see the expression on Scully's face. He was scared, worried that he'd crossed the line, that this Scully didn't feel that way about her Mulder, that he'd blown any chance at friendship between them. A flash of lightning filled the room. In that instant, he saw her tears as she gazed longingly at him.
"When I came back first," she whispered. "Melissa...seeing her dead hit me, it did. But you...seeing you lying there, thinking you were dead and gone...I felt..." She swallowed and forced herself to go on. "I always have put my faith in science, Mulder. I never let myself be open to the sort of wild stuff Missy believed in; that's sort of why we broke apart for too long. But you...You showed me faith in something I never believed in before, Mulder." She reached forward and put her hand in his. "You showed me love," she whispered, the tears coming faster, the words she'd held back so long spilling out before she knew it. "I love you so much. I never thought you’d feel the same way about me, even after seeing our doubles but...but it’s true, isn’t it? What we’re feeling...it’s--"
"It’s real, Dana. It’s so real...I love you," Mulder said as he felt the tears start to flow from his own eyes. "I’ve always loved you," he breathed as he slowly brought his face toward hers. When their lips met, they slowly pressed against the other's, tentative at first but then merging fully. The kiss intensified and as it did, they had no doubts about the other’s level of commitment.
They embraced as they deepened their kiss. Then Mulder came up for air and planted several kisses on Scully's neck and collarbone, while she reciprocated. They managed to get to their feet, pawed at each other’s clothing, and stumbled to the bedroom. They separated for a moment to allow Scully to drag Mulder's shirt off. Free of his shirt, Mulder returned to the enjoyable task of fumbling with the buttons of her blouse. With a sudden movement that Mulder would never had expected from his cool and analytical partner, Scully ripped her shirt open, sending her buttons flying away in all directions. Then she slipped off her blouse to reveal the milky white flesh of her full and luscious bosom.
They kept moving toward the bedroom, Mulder managing to keep from falling over as he undid his belt and zipper and worked his way out of his pants. It was easier for Scully; she merely unzipped her skirt and let it drop to the floor. They somehow managed to continue their kisses even as they slipped off their socks and shoes. They embraced again as they entered Scully's bedroom, leaving a trail of discarded clothing.
They stopped just outside the doorway. Mulder stared unabashedly at his soulmate. She was beautiful, illuminated by the dim lighting from the candles and lightning, garbed only in a black lace bra and matching panties, her petite but gorgeous body on display.
Scully's gaze dropped lower as she examined his choice of underwear. "Never," she said softly, "in a million years, would I have guessed red briefs."
"Spent a lot of time thinking about it, Dana?" Mulder teased.
Scully looked at him, happiness dancing in her eyes. "You'd be surprised."
Mulder licked his lips and caressed her face. "Dana," he said softly. "If you want me to stop, this is the last chance--"
"Mulder," Scully said in a husky voice that left no doubt, "if you even think about stopping now, you're a dead man."
Mulder hugged her close and kissed her hard. Scully moaned through it, as she felt his hard cock push against her hip. She slid her hands down his back, driving him to distraction with her gentle touch. She broke the kiss and turned around, allowing Mulder to reach around with both hands and cup her breasts. Scully groaned as his fingers brushed against her nipples which strained against their dark lace restraints. She managed to reach a hand around to unclasp her bra and it loosened under Mulder's ministrations. He continued to massage her bosom, sending waves of pure pleasure through Scully’s nervous system.
Mulder could wait no longer; he had to see her in all her glory. He removed his hands from her breasts and gently turned her around. When she finally faced him, her bra fell away down to the floor. Mulder’s eyes worshiped her. "Perfect," he whispered. They were full but firm, papaya-sized, round with erect nipples the size of thimbles. "You are so lovely."
Scully blushed under his scrutiny. She saw Mulder's gaze drift down a bit to her panties. Before she could say another word, he hooked his fingers inside and slid them down and off to the floor. When they had pooled at her feet, Scully stepped out of them. Mulder stood up and looked at her reverently. He'd dreamed so many times of what Scully would look like naked but the reality was far better than even he had imagined. Struck by a sudden urge, Scully slowly turned around with her arms held out to allow Mulder to see her fully.
"Well?" she asked with a quirky smile.
He gulped. "You’ve answered one question I've always had."
"Which is?"
Mulder grinned. "You're a natural redhead all right."
Scully pouted pretilly and that thrilled Mulder. "Fine," she muttered, reaching for him. "Let's see how you measure up to my fantasies." With that, she pulled down his briefs and freed his hard cock.
"Well?" Mulder said with a smirk. Secretly, he was thrilled by the expression of pure lust on Scully's face as her eyes drank him in.
"Nice..." Scully said as her gaze met his. "Let’s take it for a test drive, shall we?" She pressed her breasts against his torso and pulled his face down for a seering kiss, one that made Mulder weak in the knees. He answered her kiss with a burning passion that matched hers as they tumbled onto her bed. They rolled on top of the sheets, kissing each other lovingly for several minutes until Scully ended up on her back with Mulder over her, kissing her deeply.
Mulder nipped at her lips and Scully smiled, enjoying his playful mood. He then planted butterfly kisses, first on each eyelid, then on the tip of her nose, next on each cheek, down her neck, along her collar bone, across her chest until he reached her expansive cleavage where he buried his head inside. Scully moaned as Mulder kissed along the curves of her breasts. Then she felt the warmth of his breath against her flesh as he opened his mouth and licked each nipple. She gasped and squirmed under his ministrations, emboldening her lover to heighten the attentions he showered upon her. Suddenly, she felt something probe the outer lips of her sex and squealed when Mulder slid a finger inside her pussy. Somehow, he craned his finger so it rubbed against the front inner wall of her core and Scully feeling her sex respond as it she her juices began to flow. "Oh, God...that’s so good." She gently bit her lip and rotated her pelvis to make his finger go where she needed it. She uttered a long groan and gasped as her eyes popped open. "Oh, yeah, Mulder! That’s it--"
"Fox," he whispered.
Scully stared at him, slightly shocked. "What? But you--"
"I don't care," he replied, then he kissed her earlobes. "Tonight, right now...I want you to say my first name." He kissed her lips gently, looked deeply into her eyes.
She gazed lovingly at him and smiled gently. "Fox," she said, a little unused to the name. "I'm ready."
Mulder needed no further encouragement. He carefully parted her lovely legs with his left hand while caressing the patch of dark red pubic hair that guarded her core. Carefully, he maneuvered his cock to against the entrance to her sex and bathed his tip in her the dampness of her excitement. Then, with a deep breath, he pushed his cock inside her, driving it home.
Scully gasped as her core was filled by him. The beautiful red head drew her legs up to cradle his weight as they moved together in the timeless dance of love. She moaned and mewled as he began a steady, pumping motion while her slick inner muscles struggled to hold onto his rock hard erection. He groaned as Scully’s hips matched his rythym perfectly, her pelvis shifting so she could increase the pleasure for them both. Her sweat-slicked hair was plastered to her forehead as his sparsely haired chest pressed gently against her face. She found his left nipple close by and took it between her lips. She suckled it like a baby would its mother and Mulder moaned deep in his throat. She closed her eyes as he continued to thrust into her, steadily increasing both his speed and the pressure on her G-spot. When he dragged his right hand down, cupped the left cheek of her ass in his palm, and pulled her pussy tight against his crotch, Scully's breath caught in her throat. She moaned around his nipple and said, "Oh...God," reached up, and hugged Mulder closer, her nails raking his back, opening cuts that would have needed attention if Mulder weren't Immortal. As a small quake trembled along her inner walls, she bit his nipple hard.
Mulder didn't notice the pain, he was so lost inside her, he twisted his nipple from her mouth and leaned down to take her right nipple back into his mouth. He sucked on her nipple hard while she answered every one of his thrusts with one of her owns as he drove his cock deeper and deeper into his soulmate.
Soon, the pleasure became almost unbearable for the lovers. "God, Fox," Scully breathed. "I’m close...so close...oh, Jesus! Ohmigod..."
"That’s it, baby," he whispered. "That’s it. I’m almost there, Dana."
"Shit, Fox!" Dana cried out. "You're so fucking hot..."
"Only with you..." Mulder managed to say. "I love–Oh, honey–Oh, God. Dana, I'm gonna--" He tensed, as he strained to hold off for her.
"Fuck!" Scully yelped. "Fuck, fuck...Yes! I'm there...there...God, Fox, come with me! Please come...come!"
"AHHH!" Mulder grunted as he exploded, firing his seed deep inside Scully’s welcoming core. Scully screamed at the top of her lungs belying once and for all her "Ice Queen" image espoused by her co-workers. She arched her body and lifted them both off the mattress with her spasms. As they reveled in their mutual orgasm, they desperately held onto the beauty of the moment, and bathed in the sheer bliss of their lovemaking. Then slowly, inevitably, the waves of orgasm washed over them and they slowly sank back onto the bed.
Mulder gingerly pulled out of Scully’s snug, virgin-tight pussy and fell off to one side. He was breathing as hard as she, and he managed to turn his head to face her. "That was...incredible..."
"Hell, yeah," Scully said with a gasp. "God...It's been so long..."
"Me too." Mulder looked right at her and added, "But it was never this good before."
Scully grinned and felt her stomach flip. "Ditto," she agreed.
He regarded her with a twinkle in his eyes. "Dana," he drawled, "one thing, though. I must say I’m a little shocked that you like to talk...dirty." He smiled slyly. "I would never have thought that a good Catholic girl like you would be so...proficient at that."
She snorted. "Don’t be such a dork, Fox. That’s the only thing that stayed with me out of parochial school."
As they lay together, their limbs entwined, an errant thought forced its way to the forefront of her mind. "You think our counterparts had the same experience their first time?"
"Who cares?" Mulder shrugged. "This is you and me, Dana. Fuck those two." He was startled when Scully suddenly laughed, then realized what he had just said and chuckled himself. "Guess we took care of that, huh? I don’t see how anyone could ever call you the Ice Queen after that performance."
"Well, you managed to melt me down," Scully smiled as she moved to him. "Want to try it again now that I’m all warmed up?"
He grinned, pulled her firmly on top of his body, and said, "I think I like playing doctor with you, Doctor Scully." Then they kissed each other deeply and thoroughly.

Scully's eyes blinked open as the sunlight filtered through the blinds covering her bedroom window. She glanced to her side and froze as she saw Mulder lying next to her, his strong arms wrapped around her, holding her close. The sheets partially covered them, but were superfluous because he kept her warm with his body heat. Scully leaned over and kissed him, waking him up as she tasted his lips with the tip of her tongue.
"Hmmmm, I definitely could get used to this," he murmured against her lips. He smiled as he ran his fingers through her hair.
"Me too." Scully sighed and glanced at her clock. Its display blinked and showed the incorrect time. Then she recalled why the clock had got that way. "Looks like the power came back on. That's--" She hesitated when she saw an envelope leaning against the clock, one that hadn't been there the night before.
She rolled over to grab the letter, opened it and pulled out a small note.
Meanwhile, Mulder enjoyed the splendid view of Scully's full derriere revealed by the covers. When she gasped, he became alert and rolled over toward her. "What is it, honey?" he said.
Scully didn't answer him, she simply handed him the note. He skimmed it while she stared into space with an unbelieving expression on her face.
To my sis and hopefully future bro-in-law,
Isn't it amazing what a few swipes of a katana can do to some tires? You'd think they'd have more people guarding
the parking lot for that place. Then again, I kind of knew they wouldn't. After all, I was the one who suggested to each
of you privately that you pick that for the location of your first date. It made it much easier for me to work this.
I wish I'd thought of the thunderstorm, that really helped things along. Plus it gave me a great cover for the
little electrical rewiring job I pulled down in the basement when you two came in. So, it worked even better than I’d
hoped. Nothing like a little dark and a few candles to allow you two emotional cripples to get past your inhibitions.
Oh, by the by, if you're a tad groggy, it might be the little bit of chloroform I wafted into your air vent. Not
much, really, I just needed to drop this by without you two feeling me. Trust me, you were so exhausted, it didn't take
much to send you to dreamland.
Okay, I grant this may have been a tad extreme but I've spent three years watching you two closet lovebirds dance
around and miss a dozen opportunities to tell each other how you felt about the other. Once I heard about your married
counterparts, that convinced me that you two were meant to be together. So, it's happened and I for one, am happy it's
over!
Dana, I am ecstatic for you. Fox is a great guy in so many ways; he'll make sure you're treated right. Fox, take
care of my baby sister, I know you will. Hurt her in any way and your head is mine.
Not to put pressure on you or anything.
Enjoy your time together, kiddos. I don't think that'll be a hard thing to do.
Love, Melissa."
"That bitch!" Mulder whispered as he lay back on the couch. He stared in amazement at the note. "She set us up."
"Amanda's corrupted her." Scully groaned as laid down and leaned on Mulder’s chest. "She was never this sneaky as a kid." She rubbed her eyes. "Could be worse, I guess. If my mother was still alive, I have no doubt she'd helped Missy set us up."
Mulder dropped the note and looked down at the top of her head. "Well...I guess we should thank her."
"For slicing up my tires and knocking out the power in my building?" Scully said in disbelief.
"No," Mulder replied. "For making us finally see what had been always there."
Scully glanced up at him. She felt her desire reignite within her. She moved up, her breasts trailing along Mulder's chest as she kissed him gently. "I hate to waste such a great gift from her," she breathed into his mouth.
"Hmmm...let’s call in sick today," Mulder replied with a smile as he
wrapped his arms around her.
"Skinner won't like that," Scully said and sighed as she felt his hands caress her buttocks. "Besides, we don’t get sick."
"How's he going to know?" Mulder grinned, squeezing Scully's ass. She gasped and straddled him. "Is it time for my physical, Doctor Scully?"
"Turn and cough." Scully smiled as she and Mulder lost themselves for the rest of the day.

X-Files Office, FBI Headquarters
Washington D.C.
January 12, 1999 - 0931 Hours EST
The dinging noise of the elevator heralded its arrival. Mulder and Scully exited the elevator and walked toward their office. "Still can't believe you turned down a quickie," Mulder mumbled.
"Mulder, we're at work," Scully pointed out. "We can't just ‘do it’ in the elevator." She smiled at him. "Of course, we could try the one at my place..."
"Agent Scully, you are insatiable," Mulder observed, something he had noted on several occasions in the last day. They had made love throughout her apartment, from the bedroom to the living room and even the kitchen. They couldn’t get enough of each other.
"Good thing we're Immortal," Mulder remarked. "Otherwise, we wouldn’t survive our honeymoon."
"True--" Scully cut herself off as the Buzz hit them both. She glanced at Mulder and they both guessed who it was even before they had reached the small office. They found the woman leaning back in Mulder's chair, dressed in dark slacks and a blouse. She grinned like a loon at them.
"Have a nice date?" Melissa Scully said brightly.
Dana crossed her arms and fixed her sister with a hard stare. "Part of me wants to kill you at least twice," she said flatly. She suddenly smiled and graced her sister with a look of appreciation. "But most of me wants to hug you and never let go."
"Easy, sis," Melissa said. "First off, unlike my other self, I don't play that way. Besides, that's what Fox is for."
Scully laughed as she gave Melissa a hug, Mulder did the same. "We do want to thank you," he said. "That may have been wild but it did the job."
"Hey, I'm just sorry I didn't think of it years ago." Melissa smiled as she pulled out of his hug. "But if you guys want to thank me, think of a more traditional way to tie the knot in this reality. I don't think Dad wants to attend a Vegas wedding."
"Easy, Missy," Dana smiled. "We're still figuring this out."
"Figuring what out?" The three Immortals turned and saw Assistant Director Walter Skinner standing in the doorway. He wore a professional suit, sans jacket, shirt sleeves partially pushed up, his eyes hard behind his glasses, his full head of dark hair seeming to brighten under the ceiling lights.
"Just our current case, sir," Mulder easily replied, a bit surprised to see the duo's boss there. "Melissa was just paying a visit."
"I don't see them much at work," Melissa explained. "I just wanted to talk to Dana about some plans for a family dinner this weekend and--"
"Agents," Skinner cut her off, fixing a hard glare at Mulder and Dana. "Can you think of a single reason why I shouldn't put both of you on report?"
Mulder and Scully were both thrown by the edge in Skinner's face and tone as his words hit them. "Um, sir, it's just my sister," Scully said. "I don't think that's worth reporting us--"
"Not that," Skinner bit out. "I'm talking about the two of you calling in sick yesterday."
Mulder and Scully stared at him, then at each other, then back at Skinner, both shocked that they’d been exposed. They tried to stammer out an explanation but Skinner swiftly cut them off.
"Now, I don't know why two of my best Agents, no matter what Division they work in, would act like juvenile delinquents and pull such a stunt like calling in sick just so they could have some fun together. Frankly, whatever you do in your personal time is just that, personal, I don't really care. But when you decide to skip work to engage in personal activities, that gets my attention and I don't like it. Now, I am willing to let this go as a one-time incident but I urge you to try and make damn sure whatever...personal business you have doesn't interfere with your duties. Finally, always remember, agents, and you as well, Melissa..." Skinner carefully folded his arms so all three could see the tattoo adorning the underside of his wrist. As six eyes went wide with expressions of shock, Skinner added, "Someone’s always Watching."
Skinner turned and left the office. He was halfway down the hall before he allowed a thin smile to flash across his face. *Well, what do you know? I finally got in the last word with them.*
