Age: Not even he's sure. 55,000 years is a rough guess.
Date of Birth: March 21st, he doesn't know what year.
Origin:
It is difficult to figure out a concise history for Robin Goodfellow. One problem is that, with 55,000 years of experience, he has seen and done more than people could imagine and would take hours to detail. However, to do so would mean Robin would have to be forthcoming, a trait he's shown to be somewhat lacking in. To the infuriation of his Sunnydale friends, Robin likes to keep much of his past quiet, preferring to drop small hints now and then, although no one can be quite sure if he's telling the truth or not.
There are some things known. Robin was born in Avalon, the Farey Kingdom, sometime around 55,000 years ago. Although he doesn't give details, he has hinted at having a large family, feeling closest to an older brother he refers to only as "Rom."
From the earliest he can remember, Robin has been a prankster, getting a reputation for trouble making and prank playing that extended beyond Avalon and to other Eternal realms. However, his good heart and inventiveness caught the eye of Lord Oberon, who made Robin one of his personal servants, a task Robin took to easily.
40,000 years ago, on a job for Oberon, Robin ran across a wickedly humorous and fast- tempered leprechaun, the duo engaging in an epic brawl through a half-dozen realms and locales which ended in a draw. However, they had gotten to respect one another and soon, Robin and Liam Devlin O'Shaunnesgy, Patick Dillion O'Hara Paddywick Mchale Thornton Danahure were the best of friends, the duo running with both Rom and Aideen Jaspern of the land of Tir Na Nog for a trouble making foursome.
Robin has dropped hints at both his skill at killing demons which appears to be legendary among them, to his prowess with the ladies. He once had an affair with a warrior from another planet named Dullrena, the duo eventually breaking off after a brief but passionate time together, Robin unable to handle Dullrena's cold and demanding attitude. He also had a brief affair with Aideen around the time of ancient Rome, but the two eventually decided to be just friends.
Although he didn't know it at the time, Robin's involvement with Sunnydale began 4000 years ago when the Oracles announced to the Eternals that, barring interference, the Game would be over by what equaled to the year 2000 A.D. That caused terror to the Eternals, who knew what no Immortal did: That the Game was never meant to happen.
Immortals were meant to be an army of defenders, to fight against demons and serve as humanity's protectors. They were meant to only have the power each had to themselves, fighting against the darkness in small groups. They were mainly meant to be a massive army against a tide of demons. If an Immortal force of ten thousand or so were beheaded en masse, the combined Quickenings would be on the scale of an atom bomb, wiping out the demon army and with new Immortals being born, their numbers would replenish.
However, four thousand years before this announcement, a demon, seeking to defuse such a force, had impersonated the ancient Immortal Krevar and told Krevar's students that if there was only one Immortal left, they would receive the power of every Immortal who ever lived and could rule the world. Thus, the Game began and humanity's champions soon found their numbers whittled down, not even new Immortals born able to replenish their ranks to the point they had once been. Just as the demons had hoped.
There was a further danger to this: That when the final Immortal was beheaded, the Prize would become real: The combined life force of every Immortal who had ever lived, an influx of knowledge and power that could destroy an entire city and drive the Immortal mad. Not only was a madman with the power of a God a danger, the loss of Immortals would tip the balance of power and give evil an advantage.
The Eternals realized that this situation couldn't happen and believed the best choice was to not only wipe out the danger by killing all Immortals but also razing the magical natures of Earth to prevent further Immortals from being born, a move that would not only kill billions of humans but leave Earth a magical wasteland.
Not wanting that to happen, Robin, Liam, Aideen and Rom thought up the idea of forging a scroll that would make it seem that the game had been accidentally created by the recently beheaded Krevar. After much arguing, they managed to convince the high Eternals to give their plan a try, Robin writing the Scroll itself while the others helped with the wording. Robin placed the Scroll in a temple in Tibet, hoping it would be found before the time came.
It was 400 years ago that Robin got the infamy that he would never be able to live down. Having become friends with a writer named William Shakespeare, he told William about his job helping Oberon get at Titania on one Mid-Summer's Night, an affair that involved Robin accidentally mixing up some love spells on some mortals and causing Titania to love an ass- headed actor. Unfortunately, William got Robin mixed up with a troublesome faery named Puck, a long-time rival of Robin's. Given how Shakespeare was drunk when he wrote his play, it was no surprise that Puck got the credit for "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream," the beginning of four centuries where Puck would pull crazy stunts around the world and Robin would get the blame for them, something Goodfellow is living down to this day.
Robin's direct involvement in Sunnydale began in August of 1998 when he was approached by the Oracles (Slayer Run, chapter 32, 33). The Oracles told Robin about how Artemis had restarted the Amazons and that they foresaw the Amazon's male mates dying in battle, which would hurt not just the Amazons but the world. Since Robin was something of a "free agent" he could give the men a special empowerment to make each the equal of an Amazon in fighting and agility.
What Artemis really wanted was a way for her and Aphrodite to make things easier for the Amazons and their mates and also thought Robin might be a nice choice for a mate for the one Amazon without a boyfriend, Amy Madison.
Robin went to Fox Mulder, Jarod Russell, Rupert Giles, Daniel (Oz) Osbourne and Xander Harris, telling them he was doing them a favor to even things out with their mates. The men agreed and Robin soon took them on a trip from Ireland to Loch ness to get ingredients before bringing them to Stonehenge for the ceremony itself.
After the men woke up from the spell, Robin threw knives at them to let them enjoy their new abilities. At Giles' request, he then teleported them to confront the Council of Watchers over their mistreatment of Buffy and the other Slayers (Council At War). Robin warned the Council that any attack on the men would bring out his vengeance on them.
Robin took the men on a brief shopping spree before taking them to Sunnydale where the men stunned the ladies by beating them all in a sparring session, Robin identifying himself to all. He was interrupted by the arrival of Artemis, angry over the beating of her Amazons and then by Oberon who forced Robin to admit the truth about the Oracles which led Oberon to make his stunning announcement: To help the men adjust to their new abilities, Robin was forced to live as a human, unable to use his powers unless in self-defense or to aid his charges
Although taken aback at being forced to live as a human, Robin quickly adapted. Talking to him in private, Artemis was stunned to discover that Robin had known all along about what she and Aphrodite wanted and had placed protection spells over himself to ward off the love spells Aphrodite attempted to hit his human form with (CAW).
Even without the spells, Robin was attracted to Amy, asking her out on a date less than five minutes after becoming human. He soon became a fixture around Sunnydale, his knowledge of demons and magic becoming an invaluable aid to the Slayerettes.
The first time the gang got an idea of Robin's power was when they were tricked into walking into an ambush set up by Giles' former friend, now chaos worshiping sorcerer Ethan Rayne. (Where Everyone Knows Your Name). Following them to a demon-inhabited bar in Los Angeles, Robin confronted the assembled demons, the team amazed that the bar full of monsters were terrified at the mere mention of Robin's name. Robin blasted Rayne into another dimension, then warned the demons that any action against his friends would be an assault on him.
The loopholes in Robin's magic mean he can only aid in battle but his firepower does come in handy, such as when the team needed him to defeat a vampire/demon army. (War of the Sections). His long past also affords him information that no one else can know.
Robin was kept out of the loop when the gang talked about a mysterious warrior known only as "the Hunter." (Born to Raise Hellmouth) When the gang finally confronted the warrior they had known only as Shaw Hunter, Robin remarked that if they had just let him take a look at her he could have told them she was a half-elf from another dimension. Robin helped Amy get over her nervousness about this woman who turned out to be her cousin. He also managed to take a watchful eye over Shaw and before he knew it, he was thinking of her as a little sister of sorts.
Occasionally, Robin's way of keeping things to himself does have severe consequences. His forgetting to tell anyone about Shaw carrying a Quickening inside her meant no one was sure what to do when Ares activated it in an attempt to drive Shaw mad. (Hunter in the Dark) And of course, the fact that he had to keep the truth about the Scroll secret meant seeming a bit closed off to people.
However, Robin was a massive asset during the time when doubles of Buffy, Willow, Xander and Angel came to Sunnydale. The four were from an alternate reality where Buffy never went to Sunnydale, meaning the Master rose, with Willow and Xander his vicisious vampire followers and lovers as well, the two torturing a still-souled Angel. (Be Careful What you Wish For).
Robin first helped when the Slayerettes, having seen Willow as a vampire who killed Buffy, all held weapons on Willow when she walked in with Shaw and Oz. Ignored when he kept asking for attention, Robin pulled out a gun and shot away all the weapons from the hands of the assembled Slayerettes, then pointed out that if Willow was a vampire, she couldn't have just walked in.
It was Robin who first realized what was going on and after the gang had run into a souled Angel and his ally, Detroit police detective Axel Foley, that these newcomers were from an alternate reality. Robin helped explain the alternate reality theory and also helped Buffy come to grips with how her double was a cold, emotionless fighter, pointing out that she had been through things that the Buffy of our reality had not.
It was Robin who put the finishing touches on the gang's attack on the vampiric Willow and Xander, using his magic to knock them out, then helping them stay contained while the witches restored the duo their souls.
However, Robin was in for a rude shock when he learned that Steve planned to send a squad of Slayerettes back with the doppelgangers and help them fight the fight in their universe. Robin was stunned by the suggestion, warning Steve constantly that they had no right to meddle in such an affair but Steven insisted and Robin reluctantly agreed but not before laying ground rules on what they could and could not do in that reality.
Upon reaching the alternate reality, Robin was in for some pleasant surprises. The first was when the gang met a Scottish immortal named Ciderwyn, who was the first not to confuse him with Puck. Then, he learned an old friend of his was in this reality, the Genie from Aladdin's lamp, who helped Robin gather allies needed.
Robin did have some tight moments in this alternate reality trip, such as when JP Withers told his double about Buffy being the reincarnation of their daughter, a violation of the rules Robin had set up, which JP thought himself above. Robin shocked JP by slamming him against a wall and warning him never to cross him again, shocking JP further by the revelation that he was 40,000 years older than the ancient Immortal. Another problem came when Mulder and Scully witnessed their doubles, as well as Scully's sister Melissa, be killed only to come back to life and told them about Immortality.
Another surprise came when among the allies called were versions of Amy and her mother, Catheine Madison. In this reality, Catherine had never been a cheerleader and thus had never pushed Amy to try it out for herself. She and Amy enjoyed a much closer relationship in this world and were dismayed by Robin's tales about how the Catherine in his reality was a woman so selfish as to take away her daughter's youth just to relieve her glory days.
Robin led the first wave against the forces of the Master, backed up by the Genie, the Wishverse's double of King Arthur and both JP Withers. In the end, the Master was defeated and the gang returned to their own world. Robin's first stop was the high school, where he gave Catherine, stuck in the trophy, a note from her double berating her for how she had treated her own daughter.
Amy was pleased to hear about how she and her mom got along so well in that reality. She was also pleased when Robin told her he had set her double up with someone-----a pleasure that ended when he told her the double happened to be a woman.
Still, by this point, their relationship had grown to the point that, on Christmas Eve, at Amy's home, the two made love for the first time, bringing a new light to Robin Goodfellow's life that encourages him more than ever to fight for his friends in Sunnydale. And to have fun doing it.
Race: The Faery of Avalon, same race as Lord Oberon (as much as they all wish not to know him).
Description:
Faery:
Four foot five, green hair, yellow eyes, pointed ears, nose and chin nearly the
same long
length,
reed thin, smile able to reach nearly
to his ears. Normal outfit is a green leaf suit with a
hat to
match.
Human:
Looks to be in mid twenties. Five foot seven, short dark hair, blue eyes,
handsome but
not
overtly so, smile not as large but still there. 155 pounds, normal build,
enjoys wearing
flamboyant
outfits. Actually seems to prefer his human persona over his faery look but
still takes
pride
in his heritage.
Abilities: As with many things involving Robin, his magical abilities are hard to gauge since he enjoys keeping things to himself. Using the Buera 13 gauging, he has been marked at about a Level 9, but he's hinted he's held back. He displayed the ability to access alternate realities both with Ethan Rayne and recognizing the visitors from the Wishverse. Telekinesis is easy for him as well as teleportation and energy fields. He has proven capable of transformations and energy blasts and seems able to possibly control some effects of nature.
Robin's most personal and effective magic is evidentially his ability to give an empowerment to people to give them fighting skills equal to an Amazon, taking place at Stonehenge which Robin evidentially designed. Although he did it initially for the males, he has hinted that women can be effected too but has not had the chance to prove it.
Given how Robin enjoyed using magic and didn't usually participate in sparring sessions, everyone was stunned when he used a Walther PPK to disarm everyone when they mistook Willow for a vampire. As he explained, "I said I didn't like to use a gun. I never said I didn't know how to use one." He claimed to have learned sharpshooting from the Lone Ranger but as with so much with Robin, no one is sure whether or not to take that statement seriously.
Since he usually uses magic in fights, no one is sure of Robin's actual hand-to-hand skills but seeing as how he was able to turn the men into the equals of Amazons with instinctive knowledge of advanced fighting, it seems a safe bet he's more than ready to hold his own in a brawl.
Robin is fluent in nearly all human languages and several Eternal ones as well, meaning he can understand the occasional angry rantings of Shaw (as much as he wishes he didn't).
Current Status: Living in Sunnydale as a human and helping the gang. Robin has prepared for the possibility of losing his power for centuries and built up a secret fortune on Earth to live on. He uses it well and has a fancy apartment to his own, which occasionally plays host to Amy and Shaw after a night of fighting when she doesn't want to disturb Ulric. He helps out around Sunnydale, helping Giles in the library (with Giles occasionally horrified when Robin rips up a book such as "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" as being completely wrong) and helping Joyce Summers at her antique shop but rather enjoys being a gentleman of leisure.
He's close to all the guys, getting along great with Xander, the only one whose sense of humor nearly reaches his. He's also a "big brother" to Shaw, helping her settle into living with humans and smoothing things over with Amy. And he and Amy are growing in their relationship, with Robin feeling for the first time, he's found a woman he could spend a lifetime with.
Proficient weapons: Robin usually prefers not to use hand to hand weaponry, relying instead on magic and pure fisticuffs. However, he has shown himself to be proficient with a Walther PPK and it's assumed he can use other firearms just as well.
Current beliefs:
No one is quite sure of his beliefs. He occasionally simply says "God," when upset or the multiple "Gods," but just what exact religious practices he uses are still a mystery. If he does practice them, no one has seem him and he's not volunteering. Probably the biggest thing he believes in is the courage of the humans he's with and his confidence they can rise to any challenge.
Despite this, Robin has a secret. If the truth about the Scroll is discovered and the Game begins again, the Eternals will go to plan "A" and wipe out most of humanity. And as much as he loves the Earth and cares for the residents of Sunnydale, Robin will stand with them when they do. Thus, every day Robin carries the knowledge that he may have to kill those he cares for.
What is the most important thing you can say about the character?
Robin is a trickster, first and foremost. As Artemis learned when she tried to trick him into helping the gang and found our he knew all along, no one can pull a prank over on Robin Goodfellow. He sometimes seems a bit arrogant with his knowledge and his mysteriousness can rub people the wrong way. However, Robin truly cares for humanity and is willing to die for them. Unlike many of his kind, he feels humanity may be more worthy than Eternals and can go all the way to keep them safe. He shows a surprisingly soft side with Amy and Shaw and is protective of the men he's empowered.
Robin can occasionally lose his temper, pushed a bit far by what he sees as human arrogance. A prime example is when JP Withers ignored his orders not to tell his Wishverse counterpart anything, earning Robin's anger. Although he seems joking and nonchalant, there are hints that within Robin is a fighting anger that could surpass anything Shaw is capable of.
Robin's outfits range in the rather unorthodox and flashy, which fits his personality well. He's a movie buff and often uses films as an example to illustrate points. He's an afficionado of '80's rock and Jimmy Buffett. And his extensive knowledge and experience often leads the gang to discover that a great number of fables are actually true.
Robin can seem a bit arrogant, but given his age that is a natural. As he once told Steve, "The things I know that you don't would fill all twenty-six volumes of the Encyclopedia Britannica. With one-sentence descriptions." Add that to his joking exterior and he comes off a bit cocky, the worst part being that he can back up all his words with actions.
Robin's somewhat arrogant attitude can also be attributed to two things. One, he's not truly human and as such, can never truly connect to them on an equal level, given all he's done. The second is his secret, the knowledge that should the truth behind the Scroll ever be revealed, he'll not only have to watch them die, but take part in their demise.
As he prays that the day never comes, Robin has resigned himself to bailing the gang out of trouble more than once, helping them, caring for them and look good while doing it.
