Name: Steve St. Wolf (born Carson Jamieson)
AGE: 39 (appears to be around 25 years old)
DOB: 16 October 1959
Origin:
Carson Jamison was found as an infant on the side of a road near Fort Worth, Texas on October 16th 1959 and handed over to the Holy Mother of Mercy Orphanage. The Mother Superior, Margaret Smith, sensed something out of the norm in him and didn't put him up for adoption immediately. After several days, while tending the baby, an angle appears to her and explains that the boy is destined to become one of the leaders in the battle between the Light and the Darkness. Glaring outraged at the angle, Margaret demands to know how God can chose one so young to become a warrior in his holy war. The Angle only smiles at her and tells her to care for him as if he was her child until the time the boy was ready to begin his training, heralded by the arrival of the first teacher. Margaret accepts her charge and begins to raise the boy and names him after the man, Robert Jamieson, who she loved and lost and her own Father, Carson Smith.
Four years later, 8 December 1963, an aged man of Native American descent comes to the orphanage and asks to speak with Margaret. Margaret meets him in the garden of the orphanage and asks what he wants. The man introduces himself as Eagle Soars, one of the last great Cherokee Warrior Shamans. He tells her of a recent spirit journey that he had and what it showed him. Margaret nods her head in understanding, knowing that this is the first of the teachers that would train her son to become the man that God wants him to become. She offers Eagle Soars a place to stay at the orphanage and introduces him to her charge. Eagle Soars begins the training the next day. Three and a half years later, Eagle Soars presents his young student a medicine bag containing his greatest spells and leaves to begin his final journey. Margaret wishes him well and Carson asks him to stay. Eagle Soars kneels down and gently tells him. "You have learned all that I can teach you. Our roads now part, but know this, our roads are the same. I will see you again, someday."
Two weeks later, 8 June 1967, a man with a shaved head walks up to the orphanage and asks to see Margaret. Margaret meets him in the same garden that she met Eagle Soars some four years previously. The man introduces himself as Master Khan, a Shoalin monk who is on a quest given to him in a dream. Margaret nods her head in understanding and introduces him to his new student, Carson Jamieson. Master Khan trains Carson in the ways of Shoalin, both mental and physical for almost eight years. During those eight years, Master Khan only accepts one more student, a boy who's family had been murdered in front of him. Carson and the boy, Cordell Walker, become good friends and help each other with the training. Cordell leaves after one year, being claimed by his paternal grandfather, another Cherokee medicine man, to be raised on the reservation. On the eighth year anniversary of his coming to the orphanage, Master Khan tells Carson that he has taught him everything that he knows and it is time for him to leave. Carson accepts this turning point in his life stoically and understands that he now has to leave the orphanage and seek out new teachers by himself.
Three days after his 16th birthday, on October 19th 1975, Carson lies about his age and enlists in the United States Army. Before enlisting he has a long talk with Margaret and she gives him her blessing to his choice and writes a letter of introduction to the local recruiter. Carson is accepted and enters Army as a recruit and begins his training at Fort Dix, NJ. After graduating jump school on top of his class on January 25th 1976 he is assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, under the command of Major John 'Bull' Franklin.
After only fifteen days of being assigned to the 82nd he is brought to the Major for beating up the division's martial arts instructor. No charges are pressed when the instructor admits that he ordered that the trooper to actually attack him. Given his already excellent hand to hand skills Carson is excused from all further hand to hand exercises, expect where he is assisting the instructor.
On November 15th1976, Carson is temporarily assigned to an A-Team of the 5th Special Forces Group. Captain Kevin Ritter requests that Corporal Jamieson be permanently assigned to his A-Team, Army regulations however prevent the transfer because of the two year rule. Carson is temporarily assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group several more times over the next year.
Having finished his two year tour Carson decides to reenlist for another three years. The twenty thousand dollar bonus he receives is sent to the orphanage to cover the costs of repairing the recently damaged roof. Eight days later, on October 27th 1977, Carson Jamieson is permanently transferred to the 5th Special Forces under the command of Captain Kevin 'Tex' Ritter.
During this time Carson participates in many classified missions and trains with all major allies. On February 14th 1978 Carson is sent to Hereford, England to participate in the US Special Forces/UK Special Air Service Exchange Program. He joins a SAS team on a recon in Northern Ireland that draws enemy (IRA) fire. The team moves out of the trap, but leaves two wounded troopers behind. Carson grabs up two SA80s and runs back and carries both men out of the trap, firing at the IRA all the way. He was reprimanded but tells the commanding SAS General off. Three days later, the same General presents him with a Victoria Cross. He is reprimanded by his superiors (US Army) and transfered back to the United States.
Later that year, on December 3rd, Carson is sent to the 1st Parachute Regiment of the French Foreign Legion (1st DREP) for desert training. On 19 December he participates in a raid at the Four Palms Oasis to rescue a group of Legionnaires captured by a larger patrol of Libyan's elite Desert Border Guards. He is transferred back to the United States after this illegal action and again reprimanded by his superiors.
After two rather exciting exchanges in 78, the next two in 79 turn out much
more normal. On June 4th he is sent to the Federal Republic of
Germany for cross training with the GSG9
Border Guards, West-Germany's elite Special Forces. He went through the four week course with no
problems. On November 11th Carson is sent to Finland for training with their Arctic Special Forces. He
passes the two week training course with no problems.
After some seven years in the US Army, five of them in the 5th Special Forces, Carson Jamieson is honorable discharged from the Army on January 19th 1982. He settles down as a PI and marries his childhood sweetheart, Katherine Sinclair, on March 7th, but fate deals him a rough hand and ends his brief period of peace.
On September 9th Katherine Sinclair Jamieson is raped and murdered, scattering the normal and peaceful life Carson tried to build himself. With his help the Texan Ranger Cordell Walker and CD Parker capture the six men responsible for the crime five days later.
Not recognizing how fortunate they are, the men bribe a court clerk to manipulate the evidence. On December 15th the court is forced to release them. Their freedom is short lived as Carson walks in on them bragging about his wife's 'skills' and kills them in a bar a week later. After that he leaves Texas. Walker and Parker, the two Texas Ranger responsible for this case quickly drop it as a non-priority and bury it.
Carson settles down in Dearborn, MI under the name of Anthony Banks and works a steady job until he saves some children from a maniac working for the Centre on August 19th. While he manages to kill the assassin, he is shot multiple times and finally dies for the first time on the way to the hospital. This event triggers his immortality and from then on Carson 'Cherokee' Jamieson is officially dead and he becomes known as Steve 'the Wanderer' St. Wolf. Three days later he is challenged by Richard Markham at Jake's Roadhouse, Montana. Not knowing what he is, he simply shoots Markham when he tries to attack him with a sword, takes the sword and leaves. Three days later he arrives in Seattle, Washington and meets Duncan McLeod.
He becomes Duncan's student in both antiques and immortality and stay's with him until March 7th 1984. Duncan gives him a four hundred year old Katana as his going away gift.
Steve's world turns more complicate from there on. On January 17th 1985 he discovers Smaug stuck under a rock slide in the Andes. Steve and the Dragon Rylah fight to protect Smaug from a Black Mage and his apprentices. They defeat them and quickly move to free Smaug. Steve breaks his Katana getting him free from the rockslide and Fragnar gives him Demon Slayer for a replacement. Fragnar also forces Smaug to acknowledge the debt that he owes Steve and Smaug offers to give him anything he wants. Steve just grins and quietly asks Rylah a question. She nods her head and Steve tells Smaug. "Marry Rylah." Smaug, shocked beyond words, tries to deny the wish but Fragnar, falling over himself, laughing loudly, forces him to keep his promise.
After dealing with dragons and magical weapons Steve's focus changes more into the unacknowledged areas of earth. Areas filled with all sort of creatures most humans deem to be legends. For Steve dealing with legends quickly becomes the norm rather than the exception. On March 3rd Steve hunts down and kills two demons of the third circle. Unbeknown to him, the fight is observed by a Watcher and several Knights of the Order of the Grail. Twelve days later an Immortal Knight approaches Steve and offers him a place in the Order.
As usually in his career peace is something that is never near Steve. On May 7th Steve rescues Nuime from a Black Mage. After that she asks him to become her personal Champion. On June 11th Steve backs up Merlin in a fight against a dozen demons trying to start a nuclear war. After the fight Merlin also chooses Steve to be his Champion as the previous won didn't survive the fight.
On March 7th Steve meets Frank 'Two-Step' Iverson for the first
time. They join force to first rescue seven children and then kill the Black
Mage Sebastian King the next day. From King's castle they liberate six baby
dragons and a German princess and return them to their respective families. on
September 15th Frank and Steve discover a hoard of magical items
from which Steve chooses the bands
that Hephaestus made for Hercules and the Fangs of Tyr. They hand over the rest of the items to
the Order for safe storage.
After Years of fighting without rest Steve decides to quit working for Merlin on October 26th 1990. On November 8th he accepts a 'Straight' Job as insurance investigator but only four days later discovers the one can't 'Leave it all behind'. As he fights a horde of demons to save a group of children he meets Hercules and Roarke. After he suffered a mental breakdown, Roarke takes him Fantasy Island to help him overcome his grief. This marks also the second step of turning the balance towards the Light, as the Old Gods once again begin to take an active part in the development of Earth. FBI Bureau 13 puts out a 'Locate and Recruit' order on a mysterious individual described only as a Jedi Knight, armed with a light saber the very next day.
On May 24th 1991 Steve gathers a group of 9 people and, with the support of Fragnar, frees a large number of children from a slave auction in Libya. Kaddafi offers a reward on the Wanderer's head, but no one is too eager to collect it. Also during 91 Steve attacks a Demon Prince from hell and his Vampire's in Prague.
In 93 the Order of Teraka decides to mess with the Wanderer but only looses twenty assassins without result.
Early 98 Steve decides that he needs a bit of rest and decides that a nice little town in California would surely offer it. Duncan introduces him to Robert Lancaster, who hires him for his antiques shop in Sunnydale. But Steve learns very soon that not everything is as peaceful as he hoped. On his arrival on February 2nd he is greeted by two Vamps at the gas station. During the next two days he dusts another eight Vamps and meets a mysterious redheaded teenager who obviously knows a lot about what is really going on. At a meeting they set up the next day things become even more interesting as he meets the first immortal Slayer in history. They develop a quick friendship and decide to join forces to keep Sunnydale safe. As a first measure Steve gathers a small group of immortals and destroys about two hundred Vampires and drives the three oldest Vampires out of town.
During the next weeks he begins to train the Sunnydale natives in hand to hand combat with mixed results. This changes on February 26th when Cordelia Chase accidentally summons Artemis. Artemis impressed by their dedication to humankind decides to revive the Amazons and blesses the four females of the group. But Luck is a tricky thing. The very next day Joyce Summers and Carol Lancaster set him and Buffy up for a blind date, not realizing that they were already training together for three weeks. Steve's first date for some years. As soon as they enter her house after visiting the movies, Buffy is run through with a machete in front of her mother. While not harmful, it forces them to tell Joyce all about what happened during the last few years and especially the last few weeks.
While Steve didn't find the quite town he thought he wanted, he found a home with people he cares about and who readily risk their life every so often. Wanting to offer them the most support he could manage, he contacts Nuime and arranges for a visit in New Salem on March 16th where he gets a ten spirit guardians for himself and his friends. He also arranges for a large quantity of weapons and ammunition to be delivered to his home.
As he plans to surprise Buffy with a home cooked meal, arranging for a four star chef to teach him, fate conspires against him again. Not only does Snyder verbal abuse cause Buffy to drop by during the secret preparations, but the Mayor also hires a Second Circle Demon Assassin known as Krtog the Bearer Killer and a mass murderer visits Sunnydale. All together a usual 7th May in the live of Steve St. Wolf.
On May 18th he takes Buffy and their friends to Fragnar's Birthday party. As expected nothing works like expected and Buffy ends up with the twin sword of Steve's sword, Vampire Slayer. Who ever said that the guests of a birthday party don't get any presents?
July begins with a new challenge. On the 9th Merlin tells them about a ancient Vampire trying to summon a First Circle Demon. Steve gathers a large army of immortals and mortals and assaults the Vampires, destroying them. Nonetheless they manage to summon the Demon. Shiva quickly takes care of that problem and reveals the immortals their true destiny, to be the champions of human kind, defending them against demons and other beings in the presents of hundreds of Watchers. Though these events are horrible, they turn out to also have a few bright moments. For Steve perhaps one of the brightest in his life for during the 11th he makes love with Buffy for the first time.
As if that little donnybrook was not enough, just as Merlin, Marc and Horace visit for some more information, Buffy distracted every effort to write a report, the A-Team calls in with a little terrorist problem. Steve promptly takes a force of Knights and a few Immortals and destroys the terrorists and their biologic weapons. But an enemy from the past recognizes him and sends Libyan 3rd Border Guards after him, causing one of his men to die. Steve takes him to Paris for burial and introduces Buffy to some of his friends there. While all the fun is going on, Merlin simply tells Steve that Section 7, a name made up for the gathered people earlier in July, is now an operational unit under Steve's command.
A few days later, on August 16th, Jack Ryan visits Steve and presents him the Medal of Honor. The very next day Nikita, a Section One operative trying to gather information about Section Seven tries to hit on Steve. When Buffy confronts her, one of her operatives pulls a gun and Buffy, Andrea and Cordelia show them why that is a bad idea. But during the immediate aftermath many secrets are revealed and his 'boss' learns that Steve is more than a simple antique dealer.
In December Sunnydale is visited by reality twins of the Slayerettes and Steve gathers a few friends and pays a visit to that reality. Merlin opposes the trip, but JP Withers comes by and tells him that St. Michael has given his go ahead., so they leave on December 12th.

Current beliefs:
Steve feels that he's doing a job that needs doing. Just because he likes the people who he works for and with is an added bonus.
What is the one most important thing you can say about the character?
Steve is still trying to get used to having a home, a girlfriend and an extended family. Since settling down in Sunnydale, Steve has bought the house that he lives in. Added to it with an enlarged basement, an inground swimming pool and a permanent job that he likes. One of his main issues is his relationship with Buffy and her friends. On one hand, he's their teacher, friend and a lot of cases, Big Brother. On the other, he's their commander and has to make some hard decisions with their lives.
He doesn't like leading people he knows and cares deeply for into battle, but he knows that they'll continue fighting no matter what he says or does. He wants them to have normal lives, but knows that they won't stop doing what they've been doing. So he does the best he can, giving them a real support network. This includes modern weapons, armor and training. Access to more powerful spells and research materials. Allies who will help them and fight beside them. Guardian Spirits to protect their homes and families. In other words, a chance for them to lead a long life and have a chance to become adults. While Buffy may have died her first death at sixteen, Steve doesn't want her friends dying anytime soon and hopes that they'll decide to leave the fight behind for a while and be kids again. But, he also realizes that the Hellmouth will never let that happen anytime soon. So he does the best that he can to keep his young charges safe and sane.
