Cast of Characters As They Appear And Detailed Disclaimer

Prologue

Frank B. Parker
Frank is a former military operative who is chosen by the NSA as a strong candidate for a clandestine assignment -- time travel. Among his qualifications are a nearly perfect photographic memory, and a high tollerance for pain. His watchers (known as the MIB) are often subject to his traps and jokes. Not one to be quiet, he is often following along into unauthorized areas, or attacking the next Backstep mission. His other pursuits include Olga, the only female scientist on the Backstep Project. Married to a fellow scientist named Joseph, Olga was completely devoted to him. Upon his disappearance during a time travel jump, she waited patiently (but never wore her ring or mentioned him) for his return. Since the arrival of Frank Parker, she has allowed herself to feel love again. Just whether or not she will ever allow Frank completely into her life is uncertain. From the Series Seven Days. Seven Days is owned by Paramount Television.

Captain Craig Donovan
Chief military advisor and close friend to Frank Parker, he eagerly awaits for a chance to Backstep. His life was saved by Frank, although the details I do not know, and is fiercely loyal to him. Often he will support Frank's actions against the protests of Nate Ramsey. From the Series Seven Days. Seven Days is owned by Paramount Television.

Nathan (Nate) Ramsey
Here is a person you really love to hate. He will fly off the handle at any little thing that does not agree with his beliefs. Sometimes this can end in tragedy, other times it can actually put him and Parker on the same side. From the Series Seven Days. Seven Days is owned by Paramount Television.

Mulder and Scully's nemesis from the TV series, The X-Files. He represents the shadow government behind the conspiracy about the aliens. This guy is full of surprises. The X-files are owned by Chris Carter, 1013 production and Fox.

Mack Samuel Bolan
a.k.a. The Executioner. He is also known at various times as Sergeant Mercy, Omega, Frank La Mancha, Mack "the Bastard" Bolan, Colonel John Macklin Phoenix, Colonel Rance Pollack, Mike Belasko, Mike McKay, Striker, and Mike Blanski. He's also used several others, but these are among the ones I've seen most often. Mack learned his deadly skills in the jungles of Vietnam, and now uses them in the pursuit of ultimate justice. He believes that what he does, he does in the name of all the innocents who will never know the sacrifices he's made to protect their future. Mack originally started out as single man crusade against the Mafia, who were responsible for the deaths of his family. After his war was done and the Mafia crippled and dying, the President asked Mack to form a special anti-terrorist unit. Mack began the Stony Man Farm program with the help of Hal Brognola, hand-picking the original members of the Stony Man teams, in order to fight terrorism. Stony Man Farm's authority comes directly from the U. S. President. When Stony Man Farm was attacked with the goal of eliminating Mack and the teams, Mack broke the alliance. Afterwards, though he was considered to be a "shoot-on-sight/shoot-to-kill" target by the government, the Farm often secretly aided Mack. Currently, he is in an "arm's length" alliance with the government, and reserves the right to pursue personal missions and refuse any missions offered by the government as represented by Stony Man Farm. He rarely refuses. Mack keeps a war journal, filled with his thoughts about the mission, battle plans, and information about his targets. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books.

Carl "Ironman" Lyons.
To quote Mack and Gadgets, he's "five different kinds of scary, scary dude." Carl is ex-LAPD, ex-Special Operations Group (SOG) and currently leads Able Team. He has known Mack since nearly the beginning of Mack's War Everlasting, meeting up with Mack in MB#2: Death Squad. Originally, Carl was dead set on taking Mack down; now, he considers Mack to be a close friend who has saved Carl's life on several different occasions. Blond, blue-eyed, and described looking like an Iron Man, Lyons used to prefer a Konzaki-engineered, Cowboy-improved, Atchisson-inspired shotgun as his main weapon. He still prefers a shotgun to a rifle and is capable of Viking berserker ferocity. He is a practitioner of shotokan karate. Lyons is divorced and has a son named Tommy he hasn't seen in years. He is not noted for sitting around patiently, waiting for something to happen (he rivals McCarter in this respect) and prefers direct action whenever possible, without a lot of psychological warfare. However, that isn't to say he's not capable of using those tactics (see SM #37: Triple Strike.) He is noted for being a perfectionist and for insisting on carrying the right equipment into battle, even if it means becoming a packhorse in the process. Carl is possibly the only Stony Man commando to have no military background. Like Mack, Carl's true love, Flor Trujillo, was killed in the line of duty. Interestingly enough, Carl's nickname didn't appear in the series until Able Team #1 was published. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books.

Hermann "Gadgets" Schwarz.
Electronics wizard, he's known Mack since both were part of Pen Team Able in Vietnam. A counterintelligence specialist, he was part of the ill-fated Death Squad and one of the only three survivors. He has helped build many of the electronic devices used by Stony Man teams and, with Keio Ohara, helped rebuild the Farm's electronic security in the wake of the first attack on the Farm. He has been described as being genius-level intelligent. He twice took the Officer Candidate School (OCS) exams while in the Army and flunked both times due to an inability to take formal tests like the ones administered by OCS. He and Pol share ownership with Pol's sister Toni in the security agency known as Able Group. In the early days of Stony Man Farm, Gadgets often served as Mack's backup man. He was first introduced in MB #2: Death Squad. Currently, he acts as Able Team's computer specialist (a logical progression due to his electronics skill.) The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books.

Rosario "Pol" Blancanales.
"Pol" is short for "Politician." From a Chicano background, Pol can negotiate anything, anytime, anywhere, and leave the opposing side feeling like they got the better deal without realizing they'd been outclassed. He had been a member of Special Forces (in particular, the Green Berets [some books say Black Berets, but this is incorrect, based on Don Pendleton's original concept of Pol]) in Vietnam and had participated in the pacification program, becoming fluent in Vietnamese. He has a chameleon-like ability to blend into any environment. In addition to his infiltration skills, Pol is a pretty fair mechanic and medic. Like Gadgets, Pol was also part of Pen Team Able, which was part of the inspiration for Able Team. He was also a member of the Death Squad, one of the only three survivors. He speaks passable Italian and is naturally fluent in Spanish. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books.

David McCarter
Ex-SAS, he is both an instinctive battlefield warrior and far from a diplomat. He flies or drives just about anything and is deadly with a Barnett Crossbow. He was born and raised in the London's East End. As a member of the SAS, he saw action in Oman and Northern Ireland and was one of the SAS commandos who had conducted the raid on the Iranian embassy in London in 1980. He also participated in covert "police action" in Hong Kong. He is an Olympic-level pistol marksman, an expert in unconventional warfare, and totally fearless in combat. His first meeting with Mack and the others who would form Phoenix Force (Phoenix Force #1: Argentine Deadline) resulted in an interesting lesson courtesy of Katz. Restless, impatient, an unashamed thrill junkie, and rude off the battlefield, I'd want him guarding my back any day. His main nemesis for a long time was a SAS officer by the name of Geoffrey Simms, who has since died. He leads Phoenix Force now that Katz has retired from that position. His maturity as a leader has grown with every mission, but he's still not content to let the others take all the risks. He is regarded as being the only Stony Man commando to have managed to maintain a long-term love relationship, though his personal life hasn't been discussed in some time (whatever happened to his scarred girlfriend??). David is fluent in Spanish, French, and has a working knowledge of Chinese and Arabic from his Oman and Hong Kong SAS assignments. He is a Coca-Cola addict and smokes Players cigarettes. In Mack's words, from Stony Man Doctrine: " this Englishman has all the gall of Churchill and Field Marshal Montgomery beneath that fancy new London hairstyle." The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books.

Gary U. Manning
A quiet Canadian from Quebec, he is a world-class demolitions and explosives expert as well as an expert sniper. He served as a lieutenant in the Canadian Army. He later was an "observer" with the Fifth Special Forces in Vietnam and had conducted missions behind enemy lines, which resulted in his being one of the few Canadian citizens to be awarded the Silver Star during the Vietnam conflict. He then served with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and received training in combating urban terrorism from the GSG-9. A workaholic, he gave up a thriving security business (North American International) and a wife to fight in Phoenix Force. He spends his off-time in the woods, hunting, fishing, and camping, which results in him being very, very quiet on his feet. When he isn't doing that, he competes in marathons and is a champion long-distance runner. His official cover remains that he is a vice president at large with North American International. Among his other talents, he is ambidextrous. He used to get stuck with the task of calming David down, which has produced some funny dialogue. Gary's now unofficially second-in-command of Phoenix Force. On a side note, I've yet to figure out what the "U" in Gary's name is supposed to represent. He had a problem with his hearing that was becoming a concern of his teammates towards the end of the Phoenix Force series, but that hasn't been mentioned since the separate series' demise. Like the other original members of Phoenix Force, his first appearance was in Phoenix Force #1: Argentine Deadline. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books.

Colonel Yakov "Katz" Katzenelenbogen
Ex-Mossad, Katz is a veteran of the Six-Day War, where he lost his right arm and his only son, who'd served as his aide, in the same explosion. His career as a warrior started as a teenager aiding American OSS and later fighting in Israel's war for independence, and includes serving in the CIA, the SIS, Sûreté and the BND. He is fluent in six languages (French, Russian, German, English, Hebrew, and Arabic) and is an archaeology buff with an amazing recall of history as well as people. His wife, Cynthia, was murdered and he has a daughter named Sharon (see SB #63: Retribution for full details and for a good look at Katz -- thanks, Jerry!). He is originally a French-Israeli but was last known to be studying for his American citizenship. Currently, Katz serves as the strategic officer for Stony Man Farm. He is the former leader of Phoenix Force and is semi-retired from field duty. He is noted for using a realistic-looking prosthetic hand equipped with a single-shot .22 caliber index finger and is often mistaken for an "old man" -- till the fighting starts. Recently, his home in Israel was severely damaged when Mack was visiting. Katz was introduced in Phoenix Force #1: Argentine Deadline. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books.

Calvin James
Ex-SEAL, Ex-SWAT, he was literally kidnapped from a San Francisco SWAT team mission by McCarter and Manning, arriving at Stony Man Farm blindfolded and still in his SWAT uniform (PF #12: The Black Alchemists). He was the first natural-born American and the only African-American to join Phoenix Force, initially to supplement the team with his knowledge of chemistry and medicine, then to replace the fallen Keio Ohara. He serves as the unit's medic, but that doesn't mean he can't kick ass! He is a skilled martial artist and knife fighter, originally from Chicago's South Side. He was the first member of Phoenix Force to not be recruited or screened in any way by Mack prior to his inclusion on the team (the others were part-timers Karl Hahn and John Trent.) Calvin speaks Spanish, French, and Vietnamese. He is a natural con artist, a talent which has proven useful in several operations. He joined the Navy at seventeen and served two years in Vietnam as a member of a unit attached to the Special Operations Group, a CIA cover operation. Currently, Cal is considered to be Stony Man's resident edged weapons expert. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books.

Thomas Jefferson "T.J." Hawkins
Also known as "Hawk." He's the newest and, currently, the youngest member of Phoenix Force, born in the Army hospital at Ft. Benning, Georgia, and raised in El Paso, Texas. He is ex-Delta Force, ex-Airborne Ranger, and a veteran of Grenada, the Persian Gulf, and most recently, UN Operations in Somalia. His military career came to a halt when he clashed with the Swedish major in charge of an operation that could have resulted in UN-sanctioned terror had T.J. not gotten involved. Recruited by Bolan and Katz, he has proven to be an asset to the team, specializing in the team's electronic communications. He is an accomplished parachutist and mountain climber, yet he has a fear of heights. He'd never done a one-man parachute assault without an aircraft until becoming a member of Phoenix Force. He seems to delight in confounding McCarter and the others by speaking in Southern, redneck slang. McCarter admires his ability for rough-road driving. I'm beginning to like the guy, though I didn't at first, and the feeling probably won't be as much as the way I feel about the rest of the guys. He was introduced in Stony Man #24: Bird of Prey. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books.

Aaron "The Bear" Kurtzman Big
rumpled librarian of Stony Man's extensive computer bank; he is a living extension of not only his computer, but the network itself. He was paralyzed from the waist down during the attack on Stony Man Farm that took the life of April Rose and Andrzej Konzaki, but hasn't let a wheelchair slow him down. (Wonder if he uses prosthetics occasionally?) He is in charge of the Stony Man cybernetic team. During the time that Mack was a lone wolf, Aaron was one of Mack's contacts with the Farm. Aaron is formerly from the CIA. He was introduced in MB#47: Renegade Agent and was said to have tobacco-stained fingers. His coffee is the stuff legends are made out of maybe literally? He is dedicated to the point of staying at his terminal long after everyone else is gone, trying to find information that could be useful. He is largely responsible for keeping open the numerous backdoors into the various intelligence agencies. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books . Rafael "Rafe" Enzico. - Nicknamed "Pescado" (Spanish for "fish") for his ability in the water, Rafael is a veteran of the Bay of Pigs, a survivor of Castro's El Principe prison and a member of Phoenix Force. While in El Principe, he was starved, beaten and tortured, but he never broke. He pretended to embrace communism, and when the guards became sufficiently careless, broke a storm trooper's neck and escape. A Cuban-American patriot and naturalized American citizen, he has worked as a maritime insurance investigator, scuba instructor, professional bodyguard, and occasionally accepted assignments into Central and South America on behalf of law enforcement agencies. He was the first American citizen to be a member of Phoenix Force. He is known as a ladies' man. He has extended family around the Miami area, though his younger brother Raúl and two sisters were taken into Cuban reeducation centers when his family tried to flee Cuba. His search for his brother Raúl nearly got him killed twice. Currently, Rafael serves as the team's underwater and naval operations expert. His main arena of expertise is in underwater demolitions. He and Calvin James are considered to be Stony Man's two expert divers. He is also an extremely skilled knife fighter who learned the martial arts of shuriken-jutsu and tanto-jutsu from Keio Ohara. He survived a mission that nearly killed him sometime back, when a bullet creased his skull as he stood at the top of a staircase and he fell. His talents seem to be often overlooked (and occasionally, superfluous) and I don't think he's been fully utilized as a character for quite some time, though I think that's starting to change with ST#36. Rafe was introduced in Phoenix Force #1: Argentine Deadline. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books

Jack Grimaldi
Ace fly boy, veteran of Vietnam where he was a combat pilot, Italian-American. McCarter, who's also a pilot without peer, bows to Jack's talent. Mack converted Jack from flying for the Mafia to flying in Mack's private war on the Mafia and the savages of the world (Vegas Vendetta). [In Mack's words, from Stony Man Doctrine: "Jack was a pilot for the Mob until the Executioner crossed his psychic flight path. I counseled him to change his ways. He did. He became king of the sky."] Officially, Jack is employed by Stony Man Farm and leads G-Force, the elite cadre of Stony Man pilots. Unofficially, he's one of Mack's closest friends. Jack is the Stony Man teams' pilot of choice and he often appears in stories whenever a pilot is needed. He is a fan of country music, and his relationship with one particular rising country star, Roxanne Darling, led to his dark days as a Mafia pilot. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books

John "Cowboy" Kissinger
Stony Man's master weapon smith, ex-DEA, brought in to replace the fallen Andrzej Konzaki, occasionally fights alongside Able Team and Mack. Occasionally, the stories say that Cowboy is ex-CIA, but I tend to lean towards the ex-DEA affiliation since it's been mentioned the most. Cowboy has re-engineered or engineered many of the weapons the field teams use and in some cases, improved on Konzaki's designs. Cowboy is also responsible for the hard security of Stony Man Farm, including automatic weapons systems and the overall attack readiness of the Farm. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books

John Trent
John Trent is a friend of Calvin James. He is half-Japanese, with family connections to yakuza, and trained as a ninja under the guidance of his uncle. Fluent in Chinese and Japanese, John owned a dojo in San Francisco, though his involvement with Phoenix Force cost him students. He was not accustomed to full-auto weapons, preferring the tools of his art. He tended to refer to the regular team members as "being the ones to give the orders, not me." He was considered to be a part-time member of the Force, without clearance to know all the details of the Stony Man organization, much less the official name of the team. He did, however, know the real names of his occasional teammates and enough details to be a security risk. Trent hasn't been used in quite some time and is missed. I was under the mistaken impression he'd been killed in battle and have since researched the issue and discovered that isn't the case. Trent was first introduced in Welcome to the Feast. The information on Mack Bolan and associated characters is provided by the Alice in Stonyland site. Mack Bolan and all associated characters are owned by Don Pendelton and Golden Eagle books

He is also responsible for ensuring that the carte blanche authority that Stony Man enjoys is honored. Hal is married; his two children have aged, as has he, though Mack & most of the other main characters haven't. Hal has survived numerous attempts on his life and his position, including one engineered by a cohort of Farnsworth.
